Ballet

This page offers descriptions of our advanced ballet classes offered, especially since Recreational/Advanced is a new choice for our dancers this year!

Senior Ballet Cast with Senior, Intermediate, Junior, & DanceStar classes

Until age ~12, ballet classes at InMotion are denoted by age. After age ~12, there is variation and choice based on each dancer’s experience, training, and goals. Please read below to choose the best option for your dancer:

Youth Ballet

Little to no previous ballet training. Maybe you took a dance class or two as a child or perhaps you are looking to try something completely new! This class will provide you with basics to start your ballet journey!

Goals: some dancers who spend a year in Youth Ballet move on to Senior-level ballet classes in some cases have auditioned for and participated in the Cast, others move on to other activities, having this simply as an experience in the arts. It’s up to you!

Senior Recreational Ballet

This is for dancers with previous ballet experience who want to continue dancing but would only like one ballet class per week on a recreational basis. The class will follow traditional format, dress code, and be taught proper technique.

Senior Advanced Ballet

These are our highest levels of ballet training, for dancers who want to be further their technique as much as possible. The class will work on strengthening and flexibility through traditional barre and center exercises, as well as complex combinations.

Senior Ballet: Advanced or Recreational?

Notes to consider as you make your decision:

  • All Pointe students are required to be enrolled in a Senior-level ballet class. This may be Recreational OR Advanced.
  • If you audition and are accepted into the Cast, you must enroll in Senior Advanced Ballet.
  • You may switch between classes within the season during times that do not disrupt learning dances and preparation for a Christmas or Spring performance. (ex: anytime in September or December) Your class must be chosen for the remainder of the season by January due to costume orders and work on recital dances.
  • You may absolutely switch tracks between seasons (ex: Recreational Ballet this year, Advanced next year, or vice-versa)
